The Hungry Detective

The Hungry Detective is a series reader. There are boat loads of books I have not been able to read because the latest is book eight, and I have yet to read even book one. It is all about progress. The character is built up over those books and this shape informs the larger story which creates a larger sense of character. One big circle. So I read A BAD DAY FOR PRETTY by Sophie Littlefield . Book 2 in this recent series without bothering to read her well received first opus A BAD DAY FOR SORRY . The shackles of not beginning at the beginning stayed with me through out  PRETTY. It mattered little but tainted the overall effect. Primarily because the frame for Ms. Littlefield's books are enticing. I want to know what happened before. Stella Hardesty owns a sewing shop by day and redistributes the inequity of male-female relationships by night. After years spent in an abusive relationship where her husband ended up dead by her own hand, never again will Stella allow a man to inflict...

About a month ago I bought my first e-book. I don't own a Kindle or a Nook (or whatever it is Borders has available), but I do have the binky for the masses; the iPhone. I have heard all I care to about the portability, and the convenience of an e-reader. Suffice to say I hear what you are saying, but I just could not care less about how these things make your life 1% easier to live. Anyhow, I am on page 2653 of 4153 of WITNESS TO DEATH by Dave White. Last I checked, .99 cents at the Amazon .

Summer is only a few days old so it is time a for the The Hungry Detective Summer Preview. Summer is always the biggest time of the year for Crime Fiction releases. Of course there are more than a few books that have my interest piqued. WITNESS TO DEATH - Dave White - Now I stumbled across this book while reading an interview that Duane Swiercyncski's did on his blog with author Dave White. I love this guy. THE EVIL THAT MEN DO is still a book that I think about. Great stuff. This is an e-book release, and I plan on enjoying all 4200 pages on my Kindle iPhone app just as soon as I can.  A BAD DAY FOR SCANDAL - Sophie Littlefield - Now I'm reading Ms. Littlefield's second book now. I always lament the lack of female writers in my Crime Fiction education, this is making up for that right now. I hear only good things about this author. This is her third book.
